NANCY NEAMTAN will host a conference next October 3rd at the Usine C during the KWS forum. The conference is part of the closing plenary program of the Montreal Technology and Social Innovation week.
Nancy Neamtan is CEO of «Chantier de l’économie sociale», an autonomous corporation that has been bringing together developers and partners of the social economy in Quebec since 1996. Since assuming this role, she has seen through many policy issues that have contributed to the growth and development of the social economy in Quebec. She has been President of the Board of the «Réseau d’investissement social du Québec» (RISQ) for nearly ten years and since 2006, she also chairs the board of trustees of the «Fiducie du Chantier de l’économie sociale», an investment fund of $53 million.
Prior to joining «Chantier de l’économie sociale», Ms. Neamtan co-founded and led the «Regroupement pour la relance économique et sociale du sud-ouest de Montréal » (RESO). Until 2008, she was also a member of the «Commission des partenaires du marché du travail» (CPMT), having been a member of the Board of Directors of the «Société québécoise de développement de la main-d’œuvre» (SQDM) from 1992. Moreover, it is in the wake of these advocacy activities that she participated in the founding of the «Coalition des organismes communautaires pour le développement de la main-d’œuvre» (COCDMO).
Madame Neamtan is also internationally recognized as an expert in the field of social economy and working with international organizations such as the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the OECD Forum on Social Innovation. From 2010 to 2012 she was Executive Director of RIPESS, the Intercontinental Network for the Promotion of Social Solidarity Economy.
In June 2012, the Quebec government awarded her the title of Officer of the National Order. In November 2013, the Université du Québec en Outaouais awarded her the title of doctor honoris causa, to publicly acknowledge her career, her achievements and her social work.
